The Financial Regulator, from time to time, publishes warning notices to the public naming firms which operate as investment firms in Ireland without an appropriate authorisation. All firms which have an authorisation from the Financial Regulator to operate in Ireland are shown in our Registers section. A list of unauthorised firms for which we have issued Warning Notices is available at: List / Search Unauthorised Firms
Under the Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995, and the European Communities (Markets in Financial Instruments) Regulations 2007, it is a criminal offence for an investment firm to operate in Ireland unless it has an appropriate authorisation from the Financial Regulator. Consumers of financial services should be aware that, if they deal with a firm which is not authorised, they are not eligible for compensation from the Investor Compensation scheme.
